Our first day through the beautiful landschape of Canada is almost over! It was a long day, but we've seen a lot of beautiful sights and talked to lots of friendly people.
Het is daar mooi. Heel. Erg. Mooi. Foto's zeggen meer dan woorden....
We had a very long night - we went to bed around 6 P.M local time and woke up around 4 A.M in the middle of the night. After that I dozed off a bit, Henk didn't. Around 7 A.M. we got up and we had a nice breakfast and talked to a lovely older couple from Winnipeg, who were making a roadtrip of their own.
Around half past 8 we drove off towards Banff National Park. Unfortunatly we had a lot of rain, but actually it made the nature look even more beautiful. Fuller.
After just one and a half hours driving, we came across a traffic jam in the middle of the mountain road. The road was closed and it was all flashing
lights and cars parked across the road. It didn't look good at all. When there landed a helicopter too we knew it wasn't just a minor accident. We came to talk to another coulpe and a nice guy, who wanted to show us the way back to the mainroad so we could visit Banff without having to drive all the way back we came. He drove in front of us untill we came to Cranmore, where he took the exit and we - waving and honking waved him goodbey - followed our way to Banff
It's so beautiful there, it's beyond words. Pictures say more than words.
The village of Banff has to visited again more thuroughly another time, but it was so cold and rainy that I couldn't find the spirit to get out of the car today. It's very touristy and expensive, but those normally go together I found out.
From Banff we drove south towards Cranbrook, were we are now. We've seen a lot of gorgeous views, but also a lot of pieces of forest that was burned. Whole pieces where only bare treetrunks are seen and nature still has to recover from all of that violance.
We followed rivers and captured them on film, we searched for bears but didn't find them, but did saw a young lady practice some very elegant yoga poses in the most beautifyl surroundings.
It's brimming with pick up trucks here, but even beter, lots of Dodges in special. I'm feeling very much at home here!! All the views and roads are really how I thought they would be and how I pictured Canada. Gorgeous roads through the mountains, in between pine forests, here and there a wild river or clear blue mountain lake to cross or follow.
Als je morgen weer langs komt, zul je het horen....
Voor straks weltrusten of goedemorgen, afhankelijk waar en wanneer je dit leest natuurlijk.
Tomorrow we will cross the border to the US and we will visit Bigfork MT. Maybe even a few more places near there. I'm not sure if we'll sleep in Bigfork or not. It depends on how late/early we'll arrive there and how much there is to see. There is a very good quiltshop there that I want to see and visit, so it could become a long day there too...
When you'll visit tororrow, you will know.
For later, a good night, or good morning, depending on where and when you are reading this of course
